Dr Stephen Murphy

MBChB FRCA FANZCA PGCert(Clin.Ed)

Originally from Scotland, Dr Stephen Murphy graduated in Medicine from the University of Aberdeen in 2005. He went on to complete specialist training in Anaesthesia in the Yorkshire region of England before moving to Melbourne in 2016 for a fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Stephen achieved Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) in 2017 and has been working as a specialist anaesthetist in the Melbourne area since, with an ongoing public commitment at Werribee Mercy Hospital and previous appointments at the Royal Melbourne and Austin hospitals. He maintains a broad range of anaesthesia practice and skills, with particular interests in anaesthesia for maxillofacial, obstetrics & gynaecology and orthopaedic surgery.

He is active in the teaching and training of junior doctors which also includes his role as ANZCA Departmental Scholar Role Tutor at Werribee Mercy Hospital. He participates in regular CPD activities and further education to ensure that his practice is up-to-date and evidence-based.
